CRP Planning

1.

Have all participants in the CRP attended sufficient software & application training prior to the CRP?

2.

Has a list of functions-to-be-piloted been assembled, and does in include:

a. Online transactions and inquiries?

b. Standard reports?

c. System-generated transactions?

d. Batch file updates?

e. Posting of transactions to the General Ledger or Item Balance file?

f. All normal business functions and processes to be implemented on the new system?

 

3.

Will the project's executive sponsor participate in or observe substantial portions of the CRP?

4.

Is there a detailed CRP schedule showing which applications will be piloted each day of the CRP?

5.

Does the CRP daily schedule specify who will attend each session?

6.

Will all CRP sessions be conducted by an analyst or user, as opposed to an I/S resource or consultant?

7.

Has a "scribe", who will log issues and take notes, been designated for each section of the pilot?

8.

Will the I/S department be represented at the sessions?

B.

CRP Setup

1.

Has a facility been reserved for the CRP which is away from the normal work environment and potential interruptions?

2.

Does the CRP facility include:

a. Enough space for participants, manuals, notes, etc.?

b. A terminal with overhead projection connections?

c. A whiteboard with colored markers and an eraser?

d. At least one flipchart with various color markers?

e. An additional terminal for research and system adjustments during the CRP sessions?

f. Meeting space nearby for off-line discussion?

3.

Are all functions to be piloted recorded on an Exercise Document, describing:

a. The business function being tested?

b. The steps in the test?

c. The pilot data to be used?

d. A place to identify follow-up action?

4.

Has the schedule and list of functions been approved by all user departments?

5.

Have all the user-defined system options (codes, report selections, parameter files) been reviewed and set?

Have all participants been briefed on the concepts and purpose of the Conference Room Pilot?

C.

Conducting the CRP

6.

Are all issues, errors, and questions which require research logged for later resolution?

7.

Is a formal Issue Report document being used for this purpose?

8.

Have all planned functions been tested with the participation of responsible user representatives?

9.

Has responsibility for resolving each logged issue been assigned to a project team member?

10.

Has a document summarizing the CRP results, issues logged, and overall software fit been prepared for the Steering Committee or top management?
